How to play Verbal Memory

What it measures
Verbal Memory tests recognition memory — your growing memory for which items you've encountered. As the list of seen words grows, the task gets steadily harder, probing how much verbal information you can track.
Honest note: This measures recognition for a stream of words in one sitting. It's a satisfying memory workout, nothing more.
What's a good score?
Most people score 30–60 before running out of lives; past 80 is excellent. The percentile we show is an estimate based on typical distributions, not a clinical norm.
